Lady Raiders are Optimistic About Upcoming Season

“We are definitely going to be better and more improved than last year,” Senior Savannah Deakyne says going into the Elwood Community Invitational. “ We have had the same coach so we can become consistent and I think it will be a good year by the end.” Deakyne states when asked about the upcoming season. Deakyne is an outside hitter for the Raiders in her fourth year member of the varsity squad. When asked about what she is willing to do to make the team great, she says, "I want to help, not only the under classmen, but everyone. I want to have a fun time and I want everyone to improve once I’m gone and I want to make an impact on the upcoming volleyball players.”

Unfortunately, the Raiders went 0-4 on the weekend’s tournament. The Raiders were lead in this weekend’s tournament by Freshman Megan Horton and Senior Allison Blevins with 11 kills each, followed by Savannah Deakyne 7, Arrianne Moore 6, Savannah Ocasio 3, Lela Knowles 2, and Megan Fiechter 1.

With blocks, Blevins lead having 2 ½, Horton 2, Moore 1, and Deakyne ½. Fiechter had 23 assists followed by Camryn Marcus with 9. Ocasio dug up 15 balls, Fiechter and Bailey Kohr each had 4, Knowles 3, Sydnee Jones and Deakyne each had 2.
