St Francis Art Show

The University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts is currently featuring their 39th annual High School Art Exhibition at the Weatherhead Gallery in the Rolland Center for Art and Visual Communication. In this year’s exhibition, students from 28 different high schools in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio submitted over 200 artworks. Southern Wells High School students Joana Juarez, Kari Rains, Michael Roose, and Elijah Vance all submitted artworks that will be on display in the gallery from March 5-22.

An opening reception and awards presentation was held March 5, with awards given to the most outstanding works in the display. Southern Wells senior Kari Rains received one of ten Honorable Mention awards for her printmaking project titled Diving for Adventure. Cassidy Emenhiser of Adams Central High school won the third place award, Erin Mawhorter of West Noble High School won the second place award, and Dylan Stewart of Bedford High School won the first place award. Best of Show was awarded to Coleman Geiger of Carroll High School. Awards were provided by United Art and Education, Papier’s Creative Framing, Northside Galleries, and Crestwoods Frame Shop and Gallery. Ann Shive, owner of Crestwoods Frame Shop and Gallery judged this year’s exhibition.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.  Weatherhead Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am-5 pm, Saturday from 10 am-5 pm, and Sunday from 1-5 pm.
