Raiders Finally Fall

On Monday night, the Lady Raiders fell to the Monroe Central Lady Bears. It was a close game the whole game. During the first quarter the Raiders scored 6 while the Bears scored 8 points. As the girls battled through another eight minutes, both teams scored 4 points. The Raiders trailed at half 10 to 12. The Raiders came out scoring 12 points in the third quarter, while the Bears only scored 6 points. In the fourth quarter the Raiders trailed to the Bears with about 7 seconds left. Unfortunately, the Raiders couldn't get a shot off to tie the game. The Raiders finished the season 11:14. It was a good season for the girls, and a huge thank you to the seniors, for everything they've done. Good luck in the years to come.

Lady Raiders Win First Game In Journey to Sectional Title

On Tuesday night, the Lady Raider Basketball team took on the Daleville Broncos in the first game of the Girls Basketball Sectional. The Raiders were on a high note from their win on Senior Night and were feeling were very confident. The Raiders started the game off strong with a 14-0 lead to end the first quarter. The Raiders kept their lead during the second quarter with the Raiders out scoring the Broncos 11-5. The Raiders came out of the locker room at half time and didn't miss a beat. They kept their lead throughout the rest of the game and won 54-19.

The Raiders will be back in action on Friday, February 13th at the Raider Dome. The team will take on the Cowan Blackhawks. Game starts at 6 p.m. Be there or be square.

Lady Raiders Get a Win For Senior Night

On Thursday, February 5th, the Lady Raider Basketball team played in their last regular season game. Both teams battled the Union City Indians. The JV started the night out strong by taking the early lead in their game going on a 8-0 run when the Indians called timeout. The Raiders kept their lead throughout the first half and finished the second half 47-20. In between the JV and Varsity game, the 6 Senior Lady Raiders were recognized. This Seniors this year are Allison Blevins, Savannah DeaKyne, Emilee Junk, Lela Knowles, Kiara Leas, and Timber Tucker. To begin the game, the Lady Raiders took the early lead, but that lead was quickly diminished by the Lady Indians three three point shots. During the second quarter, the Raiders fought back and took the lead going into half time. During the second half, the Raiders shots fell and took their lead to 15 points. The Raiders finished the game winning, 44-22.

The Lady Raiders will be back in action in Sectionals on Tuesday. Sectionals will take place at the Raider Dome. Come and support your Lady Raiders in their fight to win their ninth Sectional title.

Raiders Fighting to the End for the Win

On Saturday, both the JV and Varsity defeated the Woodlen Warriors at nail biting moments. The JV girls defeated the Warriors in overtime. The Lady Raiders won 42 to 39. At the start of overtime the score was 34 to 34. The Raiders started hitting free throws in the overtime to win the game. The JV worked very well together throughout the game.
However, the excitement didn't end there, the Varsity had a close game the whole game. The Raiders didn't give up throughout the game. The Raiders won 41 to 40. Lela Knowles had the game winning lay up to win the game. The Raiders played as a unit and never gave up on one another. It was a great night for the Lady Raiders.

Wins and Battles

Tuesday the 3rd the Lady Raiders faced the Black Hawk Braves. The JV Lady Raiders annihilated the Braves. The JV girls played well as a team. They made a lot of shots, put pressure on the ball, and just worked well together. The final score for the JV game was 47 to 18.
Unfortunately, the Varsity girls weren't as lucky to get a win. The Varsity Lady Raiders struggled throughout the game. The girls couldn't get shots to fall. Black Hawk just made more shots and caused more turnovers than the Raiders, which resulted in the final score that was 44 Braves to 41 Raiders.

Lady Raiders Put the Beat Down on the Warriors

On Tuesday, January 20th, the Lady Raiders took on the Wes-del Warriors at Wes-del High School. The team had prepared for the Warriors on Monday at practice and were feeling very confident on getting the win. In the beginning of the game, the Raiders took the early lead with a game opening lay up by Senior Lela Knowles. Throughout the game, the Raiders kept their lead going into halftime with a score of 27-13. During the second half, the Raiders came out on fire and outscored the the Warriors 39-13. The Raiders won the game 66-26.

The Lady Raiders are back in action on Saturday at Jay County in the Boys and Girls Double header starting at 5 p.m.

Lady Raiders Make Improvements

On Tuesday, the Lady Raiders took on the Blackford Lady Bruins at the home opener in the Raider Dome. Last year, the ladies beat the Bruins in a battle to the end. The Raiders knew it would be a fight and they had time to prepare for a great game. The game on Tuesday was back and forth the entire game. The score was tied at halftime at 18. Both teams came out the second half fighting and clawing for a win. In the end, the Raiders lost 44-41.

The Raiders will take on the Wabash Apaches on Saturday. JV game will tip at 6:00 p.m. Come on out to the Raider Dome to watch your Lady Raiders!

Lady Raiders Fall to the Panthers

On Saturday, the Lady Raider basketball team took on the Eastbrook Panthers in the season opener. When asked her feelings going into Saturday's game, Senior Emilee Junk said, " I felt confident that we knew what had to be done since we had prepared to take on the Panthers the week before." The team knew the game would be a challenge and that they would have to play their absolute best to have a shot at winning. Eastbrook is the defending MIC conference champion for two years running. Sadly, the Raiders were defeated 61-38. Despite the loss, Senior Lela Knowles has a positive outlook toward the rest of the season. She said, "We now know what we need to do to improve. We need to learn how to play together as a team and to come together. We need to speak positively to one another and not tear each other down. We had a rough start, but we will come back stronger and better than before."

Come out on Tuesday, November 18th to see your Lady Raiders take on the Blackford Bruins. The game will take place at the Raiderdome, JV starting at 6:00 pm.
