An Artist

African American, Derrick Adams was in a studio when he had the thought about what "those cities" look like. He was referring to the establishments listed in "The Negro Motorist Green Book". Which was a guide for African American travelers. Adams who is 47 is the first major African American visual artist to use the green books as a creative point of departure. While growing up he visited many places in Baltimore and got ideas for his art ideas. He travels, staying in cheap hotels so that he can capture the best places. Mr. Adams is quick to recognize the liberation Lawrance's migrants. he says, " The project is really timely, considering all of the conversations and issues surrounding immigration and racial tension." and "Things are happening that echo what the Green Books were trying to prevent. If anything, I want people to know how important it is to have the freedom to go where you want to.
