Earth's Magnetic Poles Could Be About To Flip

Earth’s magnetic poles ‘could be about to flip’ - and the signs are already here
Scientists says there are signs that Earth's magnetic poles could be about to flip for the first time in 786,000 years. They also have estimated the magnetic field that protests the Earth and is key to life has weakened by about 15% in the past 200 years, being the first sign of the flip. According to the Historical Scientific Record, Earth's magnetic poles have flipped every 200,000 to 300,000 years; making the First Sign in 786,000 years a little overdue. Satellite data from the European Space Agency shows the magnetic field is weakening due to "restless activity" in the Earth's core. If the poles flip, compasses will point south. Power grids might fail, the climate might change, radiation might be higher, and the solar winds might punch holes in the ozone layer if the flip occurred.
Daniel Baker, director of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado, said this flip could render parts of the world "uninhabitable.'' The author, Alanna Mitchell, an award-winning science journalist, wrote: ''The dangers: devastating streams of particles from the sun, galactic cosmic rays, and enhanced ultraviolet B rays from a radiation-damaged ozone layer, to name just a few of the invisible forces that could harm or kill living creatures.''

Music Artists That Deserve More Credit Than They Get

There are a lot of talented artists in today's music industry. However, not all of them are well known. In fact, most of the artist that aren't as popular have been around for quite a long time. Here are two music artists that I believe don't get a lot of credit or are not as popular as they should be.

1. WALK THE MOON
WALK THE MOON is a somewhat popular band of four guys that have had a couple of popular songs including "Shut Up And Dance" and a more recent one called "One Foot." The band started in 2006 but did not release their first studio album, "I Want! I Want!" until 2010. From then they released a self-titled album in 2012, "Talking Is Hard" in 2014, and "What If Nothing" towards the end of 2017. The song "One Foot" came from their latest album and has surpassed the view count of their other hit song "Shut Up And Dance." I have been a fan of WALK THE MOON for quite a while now and it is nice to see that they are finally getting some more fans.

2. Logic
Logic has had incredible success in the past couple of months with his release of his hit song "1-800-273-8255." The song features Alessia Cara and Khalid and talks about how it is very common and normal to struggle with mental disorders. The title of the song is the Suicide Prevention Hotline number because he wanted to let all of the listeners know that it was ok to get help and have a gateway to recovery from these mental disorders. Logic performed on the 2017 VMA's and at the end of his song, he gave a speech talking about his struggles with depression and anxiety. Logic's latest album, "Everybody," also has many other "positive messages about humanity and survival."

Skittles Are All The Same Flavor?

Image result for skittles flavors all the same

All Skittles taste exactly the same. Despite their different colors, all skittles are the same flavor. According to a Brandeis University neuropsychologist, Donn Katz, told NPR, "The Skittles people, being much smarter than most of us, recognized that it is cheaper to make things smell and look different than it is to make them actually taste different. So, Skittles have different fragrances and different colors-but they all taste exactly the same."
Our brains are used to processing certain sensory cues together. For example, you pick up a purple skittle. Many people associate candy that's purple is grape flavor, and it also usually has a grape-like scent. Katz says when you're offered two of the three sensory cues (sight and smell), your brain will fill in the blanks. So, basically, we assume before even eating the purple skittle that it will be grape flavor, and when we consume it our brain tricks us into believing it is grape flavor when it's not.
If you take a bite of a red skittle, the inside will look just like the inside of all the rest of them. The only change is the outside shell. The shell is what messes with us because it has the color of a flavor and the smell is only on the shell. If you still don't believe this, think of what the skittle would look like without the shell. They would all be the same thing, just one is dipped in red dye and has strawberry smell when another one was in purple dye and has grape smell. A new flavor of a skittle isn't the skittle at all, only a different smell and food coloring.

Rare Meteor Over Michigan

This past Tuesday, there appeared to be a meteor that flew over the Detroit area of Michigan. Many people would describe the meteor as a bright yellowish-orange light. The American Meteor Society says that the meteor entered the atmosphere and broke apart before it could hit the ground. Bill Cooke with NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office told The Detroit News it was "definitely a meteoroid" and a rare sight for Michigan. He continued to say that the meteor was about one or two yards across and weighed more than a metric ton. The meteor also caused a loud shrieking noise because of the speed it was falling at. Many people thought that the meteor was a missile because of the odd noise it was creating. A citizen of Michigan said, "I went to turn and I noticed a ball of flame coming at an angle." He continued to say “It just blew up into a bunch of sparks. I didn’t even know what to think. It was kind of odd how orange the sky was behind me and this blaze of flame out of nowhere.” NASA officials said that the meteor entered the Earth's atmosphere around 8:08 PM. Below are multiple videos of the meteor actually entering the atmosphere and disintegrating.

An Artist

African American, Derrick Adams was in a studio when he had the thought about what "those cities" look like. He was referring to the establishments listed in "The Negro Motorist Green Book". Which was a guide for African American travelers. Adams who is 47 is the first major African American visual artist to use the green books as a creative point of departure. While growing up he visited many places in Baltimore and got ideas for his art ideas. He travels, staying in cheap hotels so that he can capture the best places. Mr. Adams is quick to recognize the liberation Lawrance's migrants. he says, " The project is really timely, considering all of the conversations and issues surrounding immigration and racial tension." and "Things are happening that echo what the Green Books were trying to prevent. If anything, I want people to know how important it is to have the freedom to go where you want to.

Parks and Rec Recap Season 2

In season two of Parks and Rec, we get a lot more action than in season one. In the first episode of this season, Leslie thinks it would be really cute to marry to penguins. However, the two penguins happen to be male. This causes an uproar in Pawnee and many of the citizens want Leslie to resign. The Townspeople get over this eventually as Leslie starts to embrace the fact that she married to male penguins. Leslie and Tom plan a stakeout when Leslie finds out that her best friend Ann is dating her ex-boyfriend Mark. The next episode includes a Pawnee beauty pageant. April joins the pageant when she realizes that the prize for winning is $600. Leslie and Tom are both Judges for this pageant. Tom wants the basic "pretty and pretty dumb" girl to win but Leslie wants a girl named Susan to win. The pretty girl ends up winning the pageant and April quits halfway through when she figures out that the prize is not in cash. It is a gift card to a fencing company. Leslie's date with a police officer named Dave is approaching fast and she is very nervous. Ann helps her by taking her on a practice date and it turns out to be absolutely terrible. In episode 5, Venezuelan people come to Pawnee because Pawnee and Boraqua are sister cities. They visitors treat Leslie like garbage and she blows up on them. The local government has a competition for choosing a new mural for city hall. The parks department comes up with a combination of each members ideas for a single mural and turns out terribly. The gang goes on a hunting trip and Ron gets shot in the head on accident because Tom tried to shoot a bird. Tom gets a divorce for his green card marriage. Dave and Leslie break up and Leslie starts dating Ann's friend Justin. Ron wins a woman of the year award. The gang has 94 meetings in one day because April thought that March 31st wasn't a real day. Chris Traeger and Ben Wyatt are introduced. Come back next week for the season three recap.

2019 Ford Mustang GT500

The new Ford Mustangs that are coming out this year are saving society from new electric cars.  The Ford Shelby Mustang has always been an American classic and to match the power of the Dodge chargers and Challengers Ford is putting some power in this new car.  The Mustangs of the last few years have not had to big of engines in typically 2.3, 3.7, and 5 liter supercharged engines.  These engines still produce a good amount of horsepower but not close to the new model.  The reason Ford is doing this because it is the 50th anniversary of the Ford Bullitt.  The engine sizes and options have not been released but it will be a V8 and have over 700 horsepower.  700 horsepower for a production car is quite impressive.  In the last few years Mustangs have been way cheaper the Dodge muscle cars so hopefully the New Mustangs are still cheaper than their competitors, but they will have the same horsepower and performance.  Car lovers are very excited about this news and are ready for the release of these cars.

what music inspires you?

The Times asked 10 fashion designers what tunes have persuaded their creative vision. How would you answer that question, if someone were to ask you? What music inspires you? You may find it hard to answer these questions if you've never put much thought into it. Rebecca Taylor gave her opinion on the subject. she said "All the songs that are on my playlist remind me of summertime, in the car driving with the windows down and music blaring. The songs are optimistic and put you in the mood for vacation or in a tropical place, a bright but laid-back vibe". Tracy Reese then states, "I like listening to thoughtful, layered, well-crafted songs: both deeply felt and expressed or insanely upbeat and motivating. The creative process of these artists inspires my own creative process, keeping me motivated and keeping me focussed on expressing my dreams." Now think about it, what music do you normally listen to and why? I personally like to listen to songs that I listened to growing up, it reminds me of the good times and brings back good memories.

NFL Playoffs

The NFL Playoffs started 2 weeks ago in the Wild Card round. The matchups in the Wild Card round were Titans v.s. Chiefs, Bills v.s. Jaguars, Falcons v.s. Rams, and Panthers v.s. Saints. The teams that were on the bye, which means a week off typically are the Eagles, Vikings, Steelers, and the Patriots. Then in the Divisional round, there was a blowout by the Patriots when they played the Titans. They handed the Titans a 35-14 loss. The Jags and the Steelers were in a battle to the end. The Steelers came roaring back in the Fourth Quarter, but it was just too late Blake Bortles (Jags QB) had a good performance. The Eagles and Falcons kicked off were only Matt Ryan (Falcons QB) had started nine playoff games while his counterpart had only one career playoff start, but in the end, the world saw Nick Foles and the Eagles win 15-10. This led up to one of the best games I have ever seen being the Saints versus the Vikings. The Vikings controlled the whole first half. The second half the Saints came stomping back. The score was 20-14 Vikings lead when Drew Brees threw a short pass for a touchdown, with a made extra point. So now the score was 21-20 the Saints. This is where stuff hit the fan. With 1:29 left in the game the Vikings kicker hit a 53-yard field goal to make the score 23-21 Vikings lead. Then like a clutch Quarterback Drew Brees is he went right down the field with 29 seconds left and lined up his kicker for a 43-yard field goal. The score was 24-23 Saints. I was watching this game as I was on the edge of my seat when they hit that field I was upset. Then miraculously Case Keenum threw a pass to the deep right sideline trying to set up a field goal, but instead, the Saints defender fell down and Stefon Diggs the man who caught the football went 61-yards for the touchdown scoring with zero ticks left on the clock. With the Vikings being victorious 29-24 talk about exciting. This week in the AFC Championship you will see the Jags go into Foxborough trying to knock off a future Hall of Famer Tom Brady. Then on the NFC side, you will see two rising QB's take on each team's violent defenses.

Klowetter's NBA GM- Dallas Mavericks

If I was the General Manager of the NBA team the Dallas Mavericks I would make big changes to take them to the NBA finals, and win a championship. As the General Manager, my first move would be moving Dirk Nowitzki to the bench and restricting his minutes. I would then move Dwight Powell into the starting lineup to help him find his potential. My next order of business would be trading Nerlens Noel when he returns healthy. Nerlens Noel could get the Dallas Mavericks a solid role player. The Dallas Mavericks would have a starting lineup of Dennis Smith Jr, Wesley Matthews, Harrison Barnes, Dwight Powell, and Maxi Klieber. They have strong role players coming off the bench in Seth Curry, Dorian Finney Smith, Dirk Nowitzki, Salah Mejiri, and Yogi Ferrell. These many pieces I believe could lead the team to the playoffs when they develop chemistry and find their groove. Obviously, Western Conference teams are gonna have problems making the Finals because of the powerhouse in Golden State. The Mavericks would have the chance but it would be a challenge. The Dallas Mavericks have taken a downfall in since the 2011 championship but I believe with a good roster and good management they could be a contender and win another one.

Clippers VS Rockets

On January 15, 2017, in Chris Paul's return to Los Angeles things got a little out of hand. It was a matchup between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Houston Rockets. From the start, there was physical play from both sides of the court. The game just kept escalating and things started to get cheap and uncalled for from both sides. This involved Blake Griffin and the Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni to get physical and start screaming at each other. Both sides were runnings their mouths and getting physical. Trevor Ariza ended up ripping a gaping hole in Blake Griffin's leg sleeve. Then Blake Griffin saved a ball from out of bounds and threw it directly at Eric Gordon's head.  Eventually, Blake Griffin and Trevor Ariza were thrown out of the game. The Clippers eventually won  113-102. After the game though Chris Paul led his teammates James Harden, Trevor Ariza, and Gerald Green through a backdoor entrance to the Clippers locker room. Apparently, they were banging on the door and saying they wanted Austin Rivers. The LAPD was eventually called and the NBA is running an investigation on the incident. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, there will be no shortage of punishment to the people involved in this incident.

WWE

The Chairman of Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment is Vincent Kennedy McMahon. He has developed a company where you entertain the audience with promos and matches. WWE is a company that was founded on January 7, 1952. The company was previously called Worldwide Wrestling Federation. They had to change it because of copyright laws. There are two shows, one is called Monday Night Raw and Smackdown Live is on Tuesday from 8 to 10 p.m. and it is on USA network. Raw is on USA at 8 to 11 p.m The company has some notable wrestlers that you might know- John Cena, Triple H, The Rock, The Miz, and Ric Flair. The Undertaker is known for his streak that happened at Wrestlemania. His streak was the longest in a while.  WWE is known for some of their greatest pay-per-views like Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble, Summerslam, and Elimination Chamber. Some key factors of the Attitude era were there was profanity and other nonsense. With a lot of kids now watching WWE they have made the show more kid-friendly. Some of the newer wrestlers that I enjoy is Braun Strowman, Kevin Owens, and Finn Balor. Braun Strowman is on Raw with Finn Balor. WWE is one of the wealthiest companies around.

E. Coli Breakout

Seven new cases of E. Coli were reported on January 10th.  The total number of cases in the U.S is now up to 24 victims.  These 24 cases have been reported in 15 different states.  Two of the victims have been hospitalized with kidney failure and one patient has even died.  The cause for the outbreak have been narrowed down to leafy vegetables such as cabbage and spinach.  This disease is not only in the United States but around the same number of cases have been reported in Canada.  E. Coli is a deadly disease that targets the whole body but its effects are on the digestive system.  The sickness usually last for about five to seven days but it can turn into Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome which is life threatening.   The disease is common in the young and elderly who have weak immune systems.  To be safe make sure you wash and cook your foods properly and keep good hygiene.  Keep up to date to see the latest development in the E. Coli outbreak.

Dude Perfect

Dude Perfect is a group of Christian fun-loving guys that make trick shots and have friendly battles. The group is a YouTube sensation. Dude Perfect has 24 million subscribers and over 4 billion views. Tyler Toney, Cody Jones, Garrett Hilbert, and the twins Coby and Corey Cotton make up the group, also sometimes we see a panda. That is right, a panda. These guys met in college at Texas A&M. Dude Perfect was formed when they all met at a church bible study. The group got together about 8 years ago. The leader is Tyler Toney. He is supported by the four other guys. Their videos range from stereotypes to battles to trick shots. There is a video where they break a whole bunch of crazy world records.
